Tridandi Chinna Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Tiruvadigule Saranam.
During the auspicious month of Margazhi , I wanted to start the process of writing down the notes of sar-artham (essence) of thirupavai , its importance, implication. I also wanted to document my exploration towards the purpose of life. I pray to Lord Sriman Narayana to help me achieve this goal.
Why the month of Margazhi is very important? Bhagavan Sri Krishna says in Bhagavat Geeta that out of all months he identifies himself as Margazhi, “Masanam Margashirsoham” [Chapter 10 Sloka 35]. In Thiruppaavai, Andal mentions "koodi irundhu kuLirndhElOr" which means the bliss should be enjoyed in company. The company does not only restricted to human form, but also includes Devas. According to Vishnu puram, one day in deva-loka is equal to 12 months of earth's calendar and Margazhi exactly falls in the pre-dawn(Bhrama Muhurtham) time of devaloka, where all devatas perform the prayers to Lord Srimannarayana. So ideally it means that, if you pray during month of margazi, you are contributing to prayers to the mass prayars that is happening in deva-loka. Hence, performing, bhakthi during this month becomes an extremely blissful experience.
Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan!
Jai Shriman Nararyana!
